Works …. barely. Don’t believe the “Universal fit” claim. I have a 2008 Pace American enclosed trailer with a 2-5/16 hitch. The span of this lock was not wide enough to clear my coupler. To make it fit, I would have had to grind 1/4″ deep notches on each side of my coupler. The yellow cast aluminum base is also quite lightweight. It looks like a sharp blow from a hammer would split it easily … (although that’s just speculation at this point). I only gave two stars because for all couplers…

Not near as robust feeling as the older versions Well, Sign of the times I guess. I ordered this to replace an older unit I have lost the key to. The older one was heavy, cast metal and a lot more robust feeling with tighter tolerances. The new one is cheap feeling lightweight material that feels like a good pop with a hammer would take it right off. Other than that it appears to be as advertised and AMaxon was speedy as always with the order process. Just disappointing to see a modern rendition of an old tool from a known company that…

Keeps People Honest I bought this in May of 2015. I wasn’t expecting a stellar bit of security, as I’m mainly looking to keep the honest people out. I don’t think it would take much to pry this thing apart. Which could be a good thing, as the key doesn’t always work like it should. Even though the key turns, the locking mechanism doesn’t always release, and it takes a couple of whacks. Probably solved with some spray lubricant. Overall decent, and it does what I need it to do.
